 Abseiling

There is plenty os scope for abseiling in and around the Langdale valley, probably more so than anywhere else in the lakes, the best source for reference is the Eskdale climbing guide published by the FRCC

Biking

The roads, gravel tracks and bridle ways lend themselves to biking both off and on road, a number of good guides exist to biking in the area and a section will be going live shortly in the site

Boating

There is scope for kayaking in the valley and other boating locally

Climbing (Rock climbing)

Eskdale is a climbing mecca ! there's plenty of scope for all grades and types of rock climbing from single pitch , sports to multi pitch trad routes. The best reference is again the FRCC Eskdale guide

Canoeing

Fell running

More details from the fell running association, but widespread and available with an annually fell race in the valley

Fishing

Fishing is controlled by the National Trust and private trust, information on specific areas is from the Tourist Information Centre

Horse riding and trekking is available locally, more info to follow

Kayaking

Lots of it, all well documented in the guide book "Rivers of Cumbria" and the brand new book "Becks of Cumbria"

Mountain Biking

Mountain bikes are not permitted on footpaths but are allowed on Bridleways, of which there are plenty

There are numerous very good mountain bike guides to the area available.

Walking

Lots and lots of it! Maps for the area are the OS explorer sheets For guides the Wainwright pictorial guides are still the best available
