Pubs and Inns in the Eskdale area

The Boot Inn, Boot Eskdale

Inn is a traditional 9 bedroom Lakeland Inn dating in parts from 1578 that nestles in a magnificent setting amidst some of the most beautiful scenery in England. There is a traditional bar with log fire, a beamed restaurant ,
a spacious conservatory, a games room and a drying/boot room. Outside there is a beer garden where we hold barbecues in summer, a play area for children and the kitchen garden. Well behaved dogs are most welcome. There are a myriad of walks from the doorstep. Why not  come and spend a few days in this most beautiful corner of the Lake District. Your hosts Francis and Lesley would like to assure you of the warmest of Lakeland welcomes at the Boot Inn.
The Boot Inn  won the Les Routiers Real Ale Pub of the Year Award for Great Britain 2005, and also CAMRA Real Ale Pub of the Season Autumn 2005

The Bower House Inn

For somewhere so remote from the pressures of the present day, Bower House is remarkably accessible to the traveller in Western Lakeland, less than 4 miles from the main Cumbrian Coast road.

Of course, if time is no matter and you have the spirit of adventure, you can approach Eskdale Green and the inn via fell roads of quite awe-inspiring beauty. But of the inn itself? Very old, stone built. Alongside the village cricket field and almost engulfed in gardens. A warren of rooms seemingly heaped one on the other with neither plan nor reason. The accommodation is exceedingly comfortable and the company convivial.

The bar too is more than a few steps back in time - the electronic age has no place, nor will it. Crackling logs, ticking clocks, the buzz of conversations about anything under the sun, cricket, hound dogs, the price of an acre and who said what to who and why.

The Inn has an uncommonly good reputation for food - imaginative always - never bland and forgettable. And that applies to meals taken in bar, garden or restaurant where, amongst others, one magnificent table can, if need be, seat 20 in comfort.
